Substructure Upgrades Underwater Systems for Renewable Energy Power Plant

In spring of 2011, Substructure executed a complete rehabilitation of the traveling water screens at a local power plant. Substructure designed and fabricated enhanced carrier links in order to reduce life cycle costing for the power plant. These specially designed carrier links maintained alignment of the screen panels both individually and relative to one another. The links also elongate the life cycle of the traveling water screens.

In order to help this local power plant achieve EPA mandated compliance, Substructure also redesigned its fish return pipeline. The fish return pipeline is in place in order to return fish, caught in the traveling water screen system, back into the sea. This redesign utilized lightweight corrosion resistance materials and significantly reduced the physical impact on fish traveling in the system.
