Substructure Completes Pre-Construction Survey on Merrimack River
In late July, Substructure preformed a pre-construction survey of the Bates Bridge as a subcontractor to construction company Cianbro. President Tom Reis and hydrographers Tom Waddington and Andrew Kelly completed the survey with high-resolution multi-beam, side scan sonar technology, and multiple GPS and RTK GPS systems installed on survey vessel Orion. This survey is being used as a reference point to show the state of the riverbed and river before construction initiated. It is also being used in conjunction with a post-construction survey per the requirement of the Army Corps of Engineers along federally navigable waterways.
