Performance Differences Between Available Epoxy Grouts and FRP Jackets

According to data supplied by various manufacturers, there is little performance difference among the variety of epoxy grouts and FRP jackets in the industry. The real differences arise in the installation of the product. Without proper surface preparation, the epoxy polymer will not achieve the manufacturers rated maximum adhesive bond to the surface of the structural member.

To address these persistent issues, Substructure designed a suite of equipment and developed specific procedures to mitigate the problems. Central to the process are cleaning devices that produce a clean, near-flawless surface far more quickly than other methods employed in the trade. The process is also extremely safe for personnel who may operate the systems in direct proximity and for divers working in the water. The cleaning systems perform the surface preparation above and below water. The cleaning systems are particularly effective over traditional methods in turbid water and in limited space configurations. The quality of the prepared surface ensures that the epoxy polymer can achieve the greatest bond strength. The process reduces preparation time, labor, associated costs, with significantly reduced risk of injury to topside and underwater personnel.
